I'm still swept away by her version of Dreams to Dream to this day, and I honestly can't think of a better voice I would want to have for my take on Hat Kid, the video game hero who helped me fight through my cancer. However, there are some exceptions of really good amongst the piles of the bad, and one of them was my choice for Hat Kid's voice: An American Tail: Fievel Goes West was, and still is, one of my favorite movies of all time, and one of the many, many things that made it so was the mind-blowingly amazing musical score (once again provided by the amazing James Horner) and the songs, thanks most in part to Cathy Cavadini's performance as Tanya Mousekewitz. It always sounded WRONG to me, like some condescending adult doing the baby voice, which it literally was, and it grated on my nerves. If there's one thing I really can't stand, it's adults voicing kids, especially in this day and age when child actors are a lot easier to come by (MLP, for example). Remember the good old days? When children in animation were voiced mostly by women doing their best to intimidate a Rugrats-ese role?.Yeah, me neither. Hat Kid - Cathy Cavadini - Tanya Mousekewitz.

And when that happens, it'll be an older, more 'reptilian' version of Tom Kenny's original role think of it as a mix between Reignited Spyro and Smaug from the Hobbit movies (the latter being a very rare example of a voice not ruining the image of the beast). There will be a few times he will speak, but only when absolutely needed, and thus such moments will be very rare and far in between. And such, I've decided to follow example and make Spyro a primarily non-speaking character, to keep to the idea and expression of the more 'primal' dragon I'm trying to write him as.

Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal is easily my favorite animated series of all time, and is a wonderful example of animalistic characters that can connect to the audience without having to say a single word it has zero dialogue whatsoever, yet the body language, facial expressions, and animal vocalizations are more than enough to convey thoughts and emotions. Plus, words and talking just muddle thought and expression, taking away from the experience of the emotion and feeling in the scene (the early marvel/dc comic books were a prime example of this).

And one of those changes that I've decided to engage in is the idea that 'The Voice Humanizes the Inhumane' that giving a normally-animalistic creature a human voice 'humanizes' them, which really effects and outright damages the image of a non-human beast that many try to portray. Without question, the biggest and most notable 'Fan-Adaptation' of my fan series 'The Saga of Spyro' is changing Spyro the Dragon from a old-school cartoony video game protagonist into a primal beast more akin with the more animalistic dragons/dinosaurs of media culture, complete with more animalistic/draconian thoughts, personality, and behavior based off of media's most iconic dinosaurs and dragons. Spyro/Jendovahzoor - N/A (Tom Kenny) - Fang (Himself, edited).
